How do I change the chart parameters
From Timetotrade
You can change the charts that are displayed, the amount of historical data and interval period associated with the chart or the chart parameters as follows:
Contents |
Changing the Type of chart displayed
To change the chart that is currently being displayed, click on the drop down menu located above the chart, then select the chart that you would like to see displayed, as illustrated in the following screen shot:
In this example we have selected the change the default 'Price' chart to a chart that displays the Price with the corresponding 'Exponential Moving Average'. If you would like to make the new chart your default chart each time you use the 'Chart tab', click on the 'set default' button as illustrated in the above screen shot.
Changing the View and Interval period
The Charts can be used to display between 15 minutes and 5 years of historical data. To change the amount of historical data displayed, click on the 'View' drop down menu, then select your preferred historical view as illustrated in the following screen shot:
Associated with each historical 'View' setting are a range of 'Interval' periods that change the granularity of the displayed data. The interval periods range from 1 minute to 1 month, with the difference being how frequently the chart data is plotted. For example if you select a 1 minute interval period (which can only be selected if the 'view' is 1 day or less), then the data on the chart will be plotted every minute, whereas if you selected a 1 month interval period, the data on the chart will only be updated once a month. To change the interval period click on the drop down menu as illustrated in the following screen shot (please note that there are different interval periods associated with each historical view):
Remember to click on the 'set default' button if you would like to save your chart settings.
Changing the Chart Parameters
Some of the charts have parameters associated with them such as the Moving Average or MACD technical analysis charts. For example the default moving average chart parameters display the moving average based on 12 interval periods worth of data, therefore if the interval period is set to 'days' then the moving average displayed will be based on 12 days of historical data. If the interval period is changed to hours, then the chart will display the moving average based on 12 hours of historical data. To change the chart parameter in the moving average example, change the number 12 in the period text box to a new number then either press the 'enter' button on your keyboard or click on the 'update' button below the charts as illustrated in the following screen shot:
In this example the moving average parameter has been changed from 12 to 50 as illustrated in the following screen shot:
Adding additional charts
To display additional charts click on the 'add chart' button, as illustrated:
Use the drop down menu to change which chart is displayed as illustrated in the following screen shot:
Deleting charts
If there is more than one chart displayed, you can delete it by clicking on the trash can icon as illustrated in the following screen shot:
As with any change, if you want to make it permanent, click on the 'set default' button when you are finished.
